How To Reset Kindle Device Without Lost Data?


When you reset your Kindle, it will come to its original state. Original state here refers to its factory settings. We, most of the times reset our kindle tablet, when it stops opening the E-books, keeps on freezing and not working properly. Moreover, if you are not being able to open your Amazon account, then reset function is performed. Resetting function deletes all the E-books, personal files, and magazines stored on your Kindle. You will even lose your personal settings which you have done on your Kindle. But this doesn’t mean that your data will be lost permanently. You can retrieve it back through re-registration.

This lets you store and download the books quickly without actually purchasing it. When you reset your Kindle, these books will automatically restore from online storage. You don’t need to purchase them again, but the case is different for personal settings. When you reset your kindle all the settings will be lost from your device. The only way left out for you is just created back up on your computer and transfer them with the help of USB cable.

Resetting

If you want to reset your Kindle, Press ‘Menu’ button and click on ‘Settings’. A setting screen will appear on the front screen. Press ‘Menu’ button again and click on ‘Factory reset’. This will start your resetting process. You will be prompted to switch off the Kindle once the resetting process gets completed.

Kindle Registration

After resetting a kindle, you need to re-register your kindle again. Press the ‘Home’ button on your Kindle. Press ‘Menu’ button and ensure that your Whispernet is turned on. If it is not on, then turn it on. Go to ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Register’. Follow on-screen instructions and enter your Amazon username and password.

Go through menus and click on ‘Ok’ to complete the process. To set the password again, click on ‘Home’ button. Go to ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Turn on’ given next to ‘Device password’. Enter the password twice to confirm your new password. You will be prompted to select a security question for password resetting. Submit your answer. Once the registration process gets completed, connect your Kindle to the computer and sync the settings and content on your Kindle. All the content stored online will automatically get downloaded after re-registration.

Parental Controls

If a parental control is enabled on your device, you won’t be able to reset your kindle. A parental control password is a must for reset. When you enter the password, the resetting process will start at once. If you don’t know the parental control password, you are required to enter default password.
